The CoolTeg Plus DF40 is an In-Row cooling unit based on the innovative dual liquid cooling principle, which combines water-based and direct refrigerant cooling.
The unit features a unique and highly efficient heat exchanger that allows the use of free cooling. The main functional elements of the system are integrated in the indoor unit. The heat is conducted out of the Data Center by means of a liquid circuit. This circuit is connected to two branches inside the unit – a water/air heat exchanger and a water-cooled condenser. The water/air heat exchanger is always used primarily when outdoor temperatures are low enough, while the water-cooled condenser is used primarily during the hottest days of summer, when cooling is provided by the refrigerant circuit.
The unit can operate in three different modes: free cooling, refrigerant cooling, and hybrid mode, where both branches of the unit, water cooling and refrigerant cooling, operate in parallel.
CoolTeg Plus DF40 – this unique cooling unit, with a width of only 40 cm and a rated cooling capacity of 24.5 kW, is connected to a liquid circuit (water glycol) that includes a pump and an outdoor condenser. These In-Row cooling units can be used in many different configurations in combination with racks, such as hot aisle, cold aisle, or closed loop. The DF40 In-Row cooling units conveniently add redundancy to the cooling system in the server room: you can use only one or more chillers connected to the same liquid circuit, you can connect some of the chillers to different liquid circuits or all of them to their own liquid circuits.
Compared to purely water-cooled systems (CW units) using condensers, the CoolTeg Plus DF system offers significant advantages in terms of indoor unit redundancy.
Compared to direct expansion cooling systems, the CoolTeg Plus DF has the advantage of allowing free cooling and brings significant savings in operating costs almost all year round, which is particularly valuable in the face of constantly rising energy prices.
